I have failed

Well, obviously I'm too stupid to propagate. I did the evolutionary meme below totally wrong, I realize. I'd take it down out of grave embarrassment, but I need to keep it up to trace the evolution, right? To trace the way that it stops. At me! Yeah, as I was lying in bed last night it struck me out of the blue that I had mutated the questions wayyyy out of the desired format. See me hiding my face in shame. What does this say about me?

Don't feel bad, Hilaire! This is why I've yet to complete my version of it! I feel like it's very complicated! But you know what? I can tag you when I do it, and you could do it again based on that tag? Would that give you some redemption?

Hilaire, this makes me feel better. You had kindly tagged me for the meme, and yet I simply cannot understand it how it works, so your "failure" helps me face my own intellectual incompetence on this one!

Dr. C. - Thanks, friend! But I think I will pass. I am happy to be the place where the buck stops! After all, this mimics one element of evolution, doesn't it? The strains who are too daft and thus go extinct...

WN and AW - Yes, it was daunting and the rules confused me, too. I decided to soldier on, but the lesson learned is that sometimes it's best just to remain daunted!

I'm still not sure how it works. And they call me a grad student. *sigh*

I am just so thankful I haven't been tagged for this meme. I've read it in 5 different places, and have exactly *NO* desire to try to figure it out. Honestly, I am not even sure what the point of it is. So, we are too stupid together :)

Oh, Hilaire, sorry if I passed a bad experience on to you! As I noted in my version of it, I didn't quite understand the rules either. But I figure, if people change the format, or don't get the rules right, or cannot even make sense of the rules, well, that's evolution too, isn't it? The rules evolve along with the meme -- I say we call it a higher-order version of the game.

I love your take on it, Sq! You are right. And I have to say - it's so heartening to hear from all you people that are equally confused!
