I've just booked myself a self-catering flat in Paris for May! For two weeks! For a research trip. I started looking at apartments this morning and figured that I should get on the booking now, if I actually want to secure one of the less expensive ones, because I know that spring in Paris is going to book up quickly. (Less expensive is important because I probably won't get the SSHRC bucks, and I need to try and make my meagre start-up funds cover as much of this trip as possible.) So I've found a sweet studio in Montmartre, and it is RIDICULOUSLY inexpensive - like, shockingly, for Paris - but also has many, many glowing reviews from previous visitors.
I cannot wait! Even though it's eight months away, it provides me with a lot of light at the end of the tunnel of this year.

That's so exciting! Wonderful!
Oh hooray for you, how exciting and what a wonderful thing to look forward to for the next few months! Well done.
Excitement! Are there pictures? Can you forward off-blog?? I loved Montmartre...
I shall forward - it just may take me a day or so! It is not grand or palatial, but who cares when it is perfectly functional and has free phone calls to North America, and free high-speed Internet, and is only costing me $940 for the whole two weeks. Yes, $940 canadian - 665 euros, including the final cleaning. Rather mind-boggling!
Will forward!
Good score! Sounds like an awesome find, and something to look forward to!
Great find! I waited too long, and ended up on a friend's couch for a month. Amazingly, the friendship survived. Being back in Paris was so amazing and wonderful; I won't torture everyone with tales of my pate sandwiches and good breads... cheese. Good red wine... oops. Sorry. Got carried away.
Yay! That is a terrific find! That's sooooo cheap compared to what I paid this summer for one week in the Marais district. Montmarte is beautiful. I hope you have a fabulous time! And, yes, pictures would be most welcome.... How exciting!
What a fabulous thing to look forward to!
